Batiks and Beyond: A Bali Textile Escape
June 20-30, 2027
Experience Bali's Batiks
At the heart of the trip is a three-day batik workshop at the renowned Threads of Life Natural Dye Studio, set in a tropical garden just outside Ubud. Here you’ll learn to draw with hot wax, coax color from plants, and create your own textile using centuries-old Indonesian techniques. Between workshop days, you’ll visit artisan studios, browse village markets, and experience the craft traditions that remain woven into everyday Balinese life.
What You’ll Experience:
- Hands-On Workshops with Master Artisans- Spend three inspiring days at Threads of Life learning traditional batik techniques and natural dyeing methods from expert Balinese artisans. Create your own unique textile while discovering the cultural significance behind the patterns, colors, and materials used throughout Indonesia.
- Living Textile Traditions- Visit working batik studios in Tohpati Village, explore the Hoffman Batik Factory, and meet the weavers of Pelangi Weaving in Sidemen. Learn how these centuries-old skills continue to thrive and shop directly from the makers who preserve them.
