Is the tour only for Quilters?

Absolutely not. This tour has plenty of activities for both quilters and non-quilters alike. Modifications can also be made, depending on the days itinerary to do your own non quilting activities.

You don't include flights. How do I make sure that I'm booking the right flights for the trip?

Due to the many different locations our participants are from, it is not economical to include airfare in our trips. That being said, we will happily pair you up with a professional travel agent we work with. She will be happy to help you find the flights that best meets your needs.

How do I get to and from the airport?

We will be happy to provide you with directions on how to take a taxi or bus to the hotel.

When should I book my flights?

Opulent Quilt Journeys will notify you as soon as the minimum number of travelers have book the tour. At this point, you may book your flights.

How much is the deposit?

Your  nonrefundable deposit of $800 is due at time of booking and can be paid via credit card or check. For more information go to,  https://opulentquiltjourneys.com/terms-conditions 

When is my final payment due?

Final payment is due 75 days before departure and can be paid via check or credit card. For more information go to https://opulentquiltjourneys.com/terms-conditions

What happens if I can't go?

We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover any unforeseen events. If you are unable to travel with us, we will be happy to apply your deposit to an upcoming tour within the next year. (If the tour does not go because of an issue on our end, your deposit will be refunded.) 

Can I come early or stay late?

You are welcome to come early or stay later than the tour. We would be happy to help you arrange hotels for extra nights.

Do I need to speak the language?

While it’s helpful and appreciated, it’s not necessary to speak Indonesian or Balinese  to visit Bali. English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas and with businesses that cater to foreigners, and we will have a local guide to translate when necessary.

Can I use a credit card to pay?

You can absolutely pay by credit card. Just fill out your booking form Booking Form

Do I need a VISA to visit Bali

How do I get foreign currency?

You can easily get Rupiah (Indonesia’s currency) from ATM’S at the airport or any bank or convenience store. Make sure to check that your debit card can be used internationally and that it does not have a foreign transaction fee.

Can I use a credit card in Indonesia?

Yes, but please note that VISA/Mastercard are more widely accepted than discover or American Express. Also, cash is still predominate in more rural locations and at small shops.

What will the weather be like?

June is the peak dry season across Indonesia, featuring warm, sunny days, clear blue skies, and lower humidity. It is widely considered one of the best months of the year for traveling, diving, and trekking throughout the archipelago

At the heart of the trip is a three-day batik workshop at the renowned Threads of Life Natural Dye Studio, set in a tropical garden just outside Ubud. Here you’ll learn to draw with hot wax, coax color from plants, and create your own textile using centuries-old Indonesian techniques. Between workshop days, you’ll visit artisan studios, browse village markets, and experience the craft traditions that remain woven into everyday Balinese life.

Living Textile Traditions- Visit working batik studios in Tohpati Village, explore the Hoffman Batik Factory, and meet the weavers of Pelangi Weaving in Sidemen. Learn how these centuries-old skills continue to thrive and shop directly from the makers who preserve them.

Sacred Temples & Cultural Treasures- Explore the beautiful water temple of Pura Taman Saraswati, visit the ancient sea temple of Goa Lawah, and experience a traditional Balinese dance performance filled with vibrant costumes, music, and storytelling.

Authentic Balinese Life- Meet local artisans, weaving families, and traditional salt farmers as you travel through some of Bali’s most picturesque villages. Gain insight into daily life and the customs that have shaped the island’s rich cultural heritage.

Balinese Cooking & Cuisine- Enjoy a hands-on cooking class at Paon Bali, using fresh ingredients harvested from the garden. Throughout the journey, savor regional specialties during carefully selected meals that showcase the flavors of the island.
