This 11-day journey takes you deep into the textile traditions of Bali, from the sacred temples and lush rice terraces of Ubud, through the quiet weaving villages of the Sidemen Valley, to the coastal calm of Candidasa.
At the heart of the trip is a three-day batik workshop at the renowned Threads of Life Natural Dye Studio. Here you’ll learn to draw with hot wax, explore natural dyes made from plants and roots, and create your own textile using centuries-old Indonesian techniques. Between workshop days, you’ll visit artisan studios, weaving villages, local markets, and experience the creative traditions that remain woven into everyday Balinese life.

Begin with a textile-inspired taste of London, where you’ll discover the Victoria & Albert Museum’s extraordinary costume and textile collection, browse the eclectic stalls of Portobello Road, and explore some of the city’s beloved fabric shops. Then venture into Wales, where centuries-old craft traditions, charming villages, dramatic mountain landscapes, and fascinating cultural treasures invite you to slow down and explore.
From the honey-colored streets of Bath to the secondhand bookshops of Hay-on-Wye, from the living history of St Fagans National Museum of History to the vibrant, storybook village of Portmeirion, this journey celebrates the beauty and creativity woven into British life. Along the way, ride the narrow-gauge Ffestiniog Railway through the mountains of Snowdonia and wander the impressive medieval walls of Caernarfon Castle before returning to England for the grand finale: two full days at the renowned Festival of Quilts in Birmingham.
