quilted victorian garment steampunk champagne fizz

Champagne Fizz

Inspired by Victorian fashion and the adventurous spirit of Jules Verne-era steampunk, Champagne Fizz combines romance, structure, and textile detail in a softly dramatic ensemble. The jacket is based on Butterick pattern B6400, while the skirt was drafted from an 1890s edition of Harper’s Bazaar, giving the piece a strong connection to period dress.

Made from faux dupioni and brocade, the garment plays with contrast: soft champagne tones, rich patterned fabric, and bold black lace. The fitted jacket, high collar, shaped waist, and layered skirt create the graceful silhouette associated with late nineteenth-century fashion. Acetate lining gives the ensemble a smooth interior finish.

Black lace trims the cuffs and front of the jacket, then continues through the overskirt, underskirt, and pannier, tying the full design together. The layered fabrics and lifted skirt details create movement and depth, while the bustle hoop skirt gives the garment its romantic Victorian shape.

Though quieter in color than some pieces in the collection, Champagne Fizz still carries a sense of steampunk fantasy. The tailored jacket, dramatic skirt, and ornate surface details suggest a character ready for travel, invention, or an evening in an imagined Victorian world.

This piece shows how historical fashion, quilting sensibility, and costume design can come together to create wearable art with elegance, drama, and a touch of adventure.
