Creme de Menthe
Emerald satin and gold grosgrain trim give Crème de Menthe a rich, jewel-toned presence with a playful steampunk spirit. The skirt and jacket are based on a fashion plate from the March 1879, issue of Harper’s Bazar. Together, the pieces create a graceful Victorian silhouette with a sense of movement, polish, and character.
Kick pleats at the bottom of the skirt add fullness and visual interest, their connection to the skirt highlighted with gold grosgrain ribbon. The trim draws the eye around the hemline and emphasizes the sweep of the skirt, while the deep green satin adds drama and shine.
The jacket is quilted with Indian henna-inspired motifs stitched in gold thread, bringing texture and ornamentation directly into the garment. The quilting adds richness to the bodice and collar, allowing the stitched designs to become part of the overall style rather than a separate embellishment. Owl buttons add a whimsical detail and give the piece a hint of personality.
A leather double belt crosses the waist and supports brocade pouches designed for carrying potions, tools, or other imagined steampunk necessities. These accessories add a sense of adventure and utility, completing the ensemble with a touch of fantasy, humor, and Victorian invention.
