My husband and I recently traveled to Ireland on a Quilting Tour with Kris Vierra. We absolutely had a blast. The selection of places we visited and the people we met were wonderful. It was a good mix of typical tourist stops along with weaving mills, quilt shops, sheep farms and small local craft shops. Kris is a fun and friendly person filled with interesting information about the areas we visited. She went out of her way several times to take care of special needs in the group. A special treat was the opportunity to talk with Kris one-on-one while we traveled and get advice and quilting questions answered. We both had wanted to visit Ireland and having Kris with her knowledge and experience helped to make this adventure a carefree experience that we will cherish always. I can’t wait for our next adventure with Kris.

This was my first ever group tour. It was absolutely fantastic. The pre trip information was good and the support during the early stages of travel instantaneous. Our itinerary was inventive and flexible enough to allow unplanned experiences which turned out to be once in a lifetime opportunities. Who knew we would be able to photograph a huge red Irish buck in his natural habitat!!! It was a perfect blend of city and country life. Can hardly wait for the France tour!!!

Kris led a group of us to Ireland for a Fiber Tour. The tour was more than I had expected. We got to tour woolen Mills, Sheep Farms and learned so much. We also got to see many scenic sites. The tour was very organized and well run. Kris is an excellent tour guide. Always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everyone enjoys themselves.

I would highly recommend a tour with Kris! She is very, very organized (but flexible) in terms of providing information and structure for a trip, and she goes the extra mile by regularly engaging with each participant throughout the tour. She will partner with you in making the trip as rewarding as you want it to be, whether by fixing problems, encouraging “out of the box” thinking for places to explore, sharing life stories, or vowing to find you if you get lost! I was on the France 2024, tour and it was like the best of summer camp -- new activities, food, and places to discover every day, diverse companions, and endless opportunities to learn about and embrace a different culture. C’est la vie – especially with tea and “un pain au chocolat!”

Our trip to Scotland with Kris Vierra was so much fun. In addition to feeling safe in her care it was a great experience going to where all these spinners, weavers, and knitters live and work. It was an amazing experience. Although I still don't know how a jacquard loom works. LOL

Scotland was my third trip with Kris and Opulent. Once again, I enjoyed a beautifully coordinated blend of iconic features, local cuisine, unique experiences and, OF COURSE, wonderful and talented people showing textile crafting through the ages. Everything from a living museum show casing the history of textiles in everyday life where I was able to participate in 'waulking' to the highest of technology as we toured a factory which produced cashmere specially made for 2026 designs by Dior, Gucci and others. Spinners, weavers, and dyers with amazing handcrafted products and skills were a part of every day's adventures. Unfortunately, we did not see Nessie on our Lock Ness cruise! Do I recommend this experience - MOST DEFINITELY! In fact, 2026 will see me in Japan with Kris and Opulent.

Where do I begin! I just got back from a tour of Scotland with Kris. Upon meeting her, I felt like I had known her forever and immediately knew I was in good hands. Upon arriving in Scotland, I had broken a couple of fingernails. Kris went out of her way to help me find a nail shop and sat there with me while my nails were repaired. This may seem silly but it just shows you how Kris takes care of each individual. She handles every detail and ensures that all expectations are met. My only job was to enjoy each day to the fullest! I highly recommend Kris and Opulent Journeys! I am looking forward to my next trip with her as my guide.

My husband and I went on the Scotland Heritage Textile Tour with Kris Vierra in Sept. 2025. It was terrific! Though we had been to Scotland before, driving around on our own, this was so much better, for these reasons: 1. We could ride the medium-size tour bus and not be stressed by traffic or navigation. 2. We could look around while tooling about, getting a good look instead of a glance. 3. The local guide that went with us was very knowledgeable on many topics from history, geology, agriculture, architecture and more. We learned a lot and our curiosity was sparked for more research. 4. Kris solved every single issue with speed and calm. She kept us organized and informed. Each evening she sent out details about the next day, including the expected weather. She is very high energy, well-prepared, and organized. All 22 of us happily fell in line with each day's plan because it was so complete. (Though individual plans were ok, so long as you told her.) 5. There was a LOT packed into our 12 days! No one was bored. There was just the right amount of free time. Meals were planned when we were in places where finding lunch would be problematic. It was all very well thought out by Kris, our guide, and Opulent Quilt Journey. I can recommend a tour with Kris Vierra unreservedly!

The Scotland tour was the second I took with Kris. Both Scotland and France have been excellent. Kris is well organized and energetic. Although I do not count sewing or quilting as among my hobbies, I accompany my wife on the tours. There were two other guys on the Scotland tour but I was the only one in France. I have been quite happy with both tours. Kris does early morning fast walks to help with general exercise. Also, at 0600 you can take photos and see a lot that you might miss at mid-day. All in all, the Scotland tour was great. I hope to do another tour with Kris in the next few years

I took my second trip with Kris and Oppulent Quilt Journeys and it was just as wonderful as the first. We enjoyed the standard tourist attractions in Edinburgh as well spending several days enjoying the countryside. I got the opportunity to enjoy many places that I do not think I would be able to find on my own. Kris makes traveling in a foreign country very easy, and she knows where to find the best chocolate. I highly recommend taking a tour with her and Opulent.
