This class will cover basic and advanced binding techniques using simple methods to guarantee mitered corners and seams. We will also discuss different sashing strip techniques, various edge finishes, and other ways to spice up your borders. Demonstration and samples will be provided.

Quilted Garments you Actually Want to Wear

Too often quilted garments look dated, stiff, and uncomfortable to wear. Learn how to size a pattern, design placement, and finishing techniques to make garments that are stylish and comfortable to wear. Additional topics include: quilting on a variety of fabrics; including, but not limited to, leather, micro suede, and silk, batting, and methods of construction.

Learn how to use your quilting skills to take your cosplay costumes to the next level. Kris will teach you how to add quilting to your cosplay garments, tips and tricks for working with non-traditional quilting fabrics including, but not limited to silk, satin, acetate, rayon, and leather. She’ll discuss how to alter your patterns, where to find design inspiration and how to combine quilted and unquilted sections seamlessly. Whether you’re a cosplay pro or just getting started, this class has something for everyone.

Ditch the Piecing (Wholecloth Design)

Always been fascinated by those beautiful whole cloth quilts but didn’t know where to start. Have you liked the idea of whole cloths but didn’t really want to do a traditional one? In this class, we will cover how to plan and design both traditional and non-traditional whole cloth quilts. We will cover templates, stencils, marking, threads, and more.  Multiple examples will be available for inspiration.

Quilting For Show

Ever wonder what makes one quilt a winner over another? Interested in competing with quilts of your own, but unsure where to begin?  In this class, I will share numerous tricks of the trade to help you produce a competition worthy quilt. We will cover everything from what the judges look for; to how to take the best pictures to help your quilt get juried in to a show. We will also discuss how to decide which quilts are suitable for different shows and how to wade through the paperwork involved in entering each show. Actual judging sheets from shows and Virtual Trunk Show of award winning quilts will be included.
