FAQ Japan Tour

Is the tour only for Quilters?

Absolutely not. This tour has plenty of activities for both quilters and non-quilters alike. Modifications can also be made, depending on the days itinerary to do your own non quilting activities.

The tour starts and ends in a different place, what do I do?

You have two options for flights. The first is to fly into Tokyo and out of Osaka (the closest airport to Kyoto). The second option, is to take the bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo (approximately $90). The train station is under the hotel we stay at in Kyoto and we will help you purchase tickets.

You don't include flights. How do I make sure that I'm booking the right flights for the trip?

Due to the many different locations our participants are from, it is not economical to include airfare in our trips. That being said, we will happily pair you up with a professional travel agent we work with. She will be happy to help you find the flights that best meets your needs. I recommend checking zipair for discount flights to Japan from the West Coast.

How do I get to and from the airport?

This tour includes transfers to and from the airport. If you are traveling during the tour window we will make sure that you get from the airport to the hotel. (some exceptions apply)

When should I book my flights?

Opulent Quilt Journeys will notify you as soon as the minimum number of travelers have book the tour. At this point, you may book your flights.

How much is the deposit?

Your  nonrefundable deposit of $600 is due at time of booking and can be paid via credit card or check. For more information go to,  https://opulentquiltjourneys.com/terms-conditions

When is my final payment due?

Final payment is due 75 days before departure and can be paid via check or credit card. For more information go to https://opulentquiltjourneys.com/terms-conditions

What happens if I can't go?

We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover any unforeseen events. If you are unable to travel with us, we will be happy to apply your deposit to an upcoming tour within the next year. (If the tour does not go because of an issue on our end, your deposit will be refunded.)

Can I come early or stay late?

You are welcome to come early or stay later than the tour. We would be happy to help you arrange hotels for extra nights. Please keep in mind that if you travel outside the set tour dates, airport transfers do not apply.

Do I need to speak the language?

You do not need to speak Japanese to enjoy this tour. We will have a Japanese speaking guide with us during the tour, but many signs are in English and many Japanese speak English. Also, there are a ton of translation aps available for your phone.
