Build Your Quilting Brand Online: Easy Website and Facebook Tips for Beginners Part 2

Using Facebook to Boost Your Quilting Business

Once you have your website set up, or if a full website feels like too big of a leap right now, Facebook is a great place to advertise and grow your businesss.

With over 1.5 billion active users, it’s free, easy to use, and can get your work in front of a huge audience.

Why Facebook Works for Quilters

  • Every time someone comments on or shares your post, your reach grows.

  • You can interact directly with potential customers.

  • You can share photos, events, and updates instantly.

  • It’s free and easy to use.

Getting People to Your Page

Once your page is live:

  • Invite friends to like it.

  • Email your current customers about it.

  • Share it on your personal page.

You can also try paid ads later, but give it some time to grow organically first. I have found that ads are good for specific events, but not as good for organically growing followers that will consistently interact with your page and use your services.

What to Avoid

Your business page is public, so avoid:

  • Negative comments about customers or other quilters

  • Posting customer quilts without permission

  • Sharing unrelated personal or controversial content

Tip: Use a disclaimer at the bottom of your invoices that says “Unless told in writing otherwise, I have permission to take, and use, photos of any quilt for business advertising purposes.”

Setting Up a Business Page

A Facebook business page isn’t like your personal profile. Instead of “friends,” you’ll have followers who “like” your page.

You can:

  • Choose a professional page name and URL (example: facebook.com/YourQuiltingBusiness)

  • Add your services, contact info, and website link

  • Post galleries of your best quilts

Posting Tips for Quilters on Facebook

  • Keep your privacy settings open so anyone can see your page. If you want it private, it shouldn’t be on your business page!

  • Post quilt-related content only (your followers want quilting, not last night’s dinner). This doesn’t mean you can’t ever share anything personal (in fact you should) just make it relatable to  quilting.

  • Share:

    • Photos of your best work

    • Awards you’ve won

    • Upcoming classes or events

📅 Post regularly. An abandoned page can make people think you’ve stopped quilting for hire.

Taking the Leap

The web can feel overwhelming at first, but once you dive in, you’ll see how much opportunity it holds.

Whether you start with a simple Facebook page, or jump into building your own site, the goal is the same: get your work seen by more people in more places.

The more visible you are, the more likely someone will say, “You’re exactly the quilter I’ve been looking for!”
