Painted Pony
The Indian war horse was held in great reverence in Native American culture, symbolizing strength, honor, and protection. The owners of these painted ponies adorned their horses with tribal symbols to honor their bond. The circle around the horse’s nose and eye was meant to grant the animal sharp vision and a keen sense of smell. Thunder stripes were painted to appease the god of war, while the handprint on the horse’s body signified that it had triumphed in battle, knocking down an enemy. Each symbol told a story of bravery and respect, making the painted horse a powerful and sacred figure.
