I wanted to create an African-themed quilt with a unique twist, so I decided to design a non-traditional zebra. I’ve always embraced the idea of breaking from conformity and expressing individuality, so why not let the zebra reflect that spirit? The applique is done using a needle-turned technique, then finished on the machine with mono-filament thread for a smooth, subtle finish. The quilting adds extra details, like a sun god, and if you look closely, you’ll spot more surprises, including a pride of lions hidden within the design. It’s a quilt that celebrates both creativity and the beauty of nature in its own way.
