Sapphire Reflections

Rich blue satin and pale brocade give Sapphire Reflections a luminous, almost jewel-like presence. The shaped jacket, high collar, and layered skirt draw from Victorian dress, while the bold contrast between the fabrics gives the ensemble a dramatic, theatrical quality. The result feels elegant, but with just enough edge to hint at invention and fantasy.

The plastron, jacket body, and collar are quilted with freehand fills, bringing texture and dimension directly into the garment. Rather than sitting on the surface as separate embellishment, the quilting works with the fabric itself, adding movement and visual depth. Rhinestone buckles fasten the plastron and introduce a touch of sparkle, catching the light against the richly patterned brocade.

Fringe trim softens the transitions between the layers and adds a graceful finish to the draped overskirt. A satin utility bag, embellished with gears and chains and set on a leather belt, adds a functional steampunk detail. It suggests the tools and trinkets of an adventurer, inventor, or traveler from an imagined Victorian world.

Sapphire Reflections blends nineteenth-century romance with steampunk character, using quilting, trim, and accessories to create a garment that feels both refined and ready for adventure. The result is a richly detailed ensemble where fabric, stitching, and fantasy all work together to tell the story.
